Dr Jari Vaario
Head of Asia Patent Transactions & External Alliances, Nokia Technologies
Dr Jari Vaario is today responsible for patent transactions and related technology cooperation in Asia. Earlier he was heading licensing and government affairs in Asia, and heading globally Nokia’s IP matters at standardization organizations.
He has worked in China from 2001 to 2005 responsible for R&D, technology, standardization, and intellectual property rights as CTO of Nokia China. Before China he was establishing Nokia Research Center in Tokyo, and CTO of Nokia Venture Organization activity.
He received his Master of Science degree from Helsinki University of Technology in 1985 and PhD from the University of Tokyo in 1994. Before joining Nokia Japan in May 1998, he spent several years in academia, serving as a full professor at a national university in Japan.
